Blanket Saga 1

Me: (Picking up the blankets piled in the hallway)

Bear: Mom!!!! Those are mine!!! (launches at the blankets)

Me: I know they are but they need to be washed

Bear: No! Mine!! (grabs one of the blankets and starts pulling)

Me: Bear! You are out of clean blankets (starts walking down hallway pulling 3 blankets, a sheet and a stubborn puppy)

Bear: Help!!! Mom is stealing my blankets!

Tramp: (sits onĀ one of the blankets I am dragging) What’s up?

Me: (Starting to add up the puppy weight I am dragging)

Tramp: You know she gives it back, right?

Bear: No! I want my blankets (lets go of the corner he was pulling on and jumps up to grab the sheet just below where I am holding it)

Me: (Wrapping the blankets around my hands for more leverage)

Tramp: (Still sitting on the blanket as it’s moving)

Me: Bear, let go! I am going to wash the blankets, with or without you attached

By this time we have gotten to the carpet and have two corners to turn to get to the washer

Bear: (Lets go enough to slide down and get a better grip and starts pulling backwards now that he has traction on the carpet)

Me: (Considers wrapping both dogs in the blankets and throwing the whole bundle in the backyard)

Me: (Finally navigated the corners and gets to the kitchen where the blankets slide again)

Bear: I want my blankets! (still pulling backwards)

Tramp: Time to go!(heads to the living room)

Me: (pulling the blankets up and feeding them into the washer inch by inch)

Bear: (hanging on until his feet aren’t touching the floor then lets go) Fine, I’ll go get Betsy’s chew toy.

Me: SIGH

On the upside – the blankets are clean

The Tragedy of Growing

Bear: Mom, I want in your lap.

Me: Sweetie, you really don’t fit in my lap anymore.

Bear: Of course I fit, let me up.

Me: Sure we can try (lifts Bear into my lap)

Bear: (One hind leg hanging down, both front paws on my chest) Mom! I’m falling!

Me: No you’re not, you just don’t fit anymore.

Bear: But I always fit in your lap (pulls his leg up and the other leg falls down) Mom!

Me: (slowly starts letting him down to the floor) How about I sit on the floor.

Bear: That’s no fun! (heads off to steal Betsy’s chew toy)

About 10 minutes later.

Bear: Mom! I want in your lap!

Of Course it’s a Toy

Me: Bear, my yarn and knitting are not toys.

Bear: Are you sure, they look like they’d be fun.

Me: No (bumps Bears nose as he tries to steal the yarn)

Bear: Ok fine (He rolls over on his back stretching and tries to grab the yarn)

Me: (Bumping his nose again) Bear, No.

Bear: Gets out of the recliner and “ignores” Me and the yarn.

Me: (Getting up and heading towards the kitchen)

Bear: (Slowly reaches up to get the yarn while my back is turned)

Me: Bear, it’s still No

Bear: (Freezes) What???

No Bear Kiss?

Me: (Hearing splashing noises) Bear, what are you doing?

Bear: (Standing with both front feet in the mostly full water dish) Getting a drink?

Me: Really? With your front feet?

Bear: Ummm Yeah (steps out of the dish and runs towards me) Foster Mom!!!

Me: Bear STOP.

Bear: What? You don’t want a Bear kiss????

Me: Not when the paws that come with that Bear kiss are dripping wet.

Bear: Foster Mom Toes!!!

Me: Bear STOP.

Bear: What?

Me: You are being a pill.

Bear: At least I’m a cute pill! (wags tail)

Puppies and Promises

Bear: Foster Mom! I want outside to play with Rommie (carrying his stuffed toy to the door)

Me: You know you aren’t supposed to take toys out there

Bear: Please foster mom??? I’ll bring it back, I promise.

Me: Sigh, ok, I need to find the rest of toys you guys have taken out there anyway.

Bear: Thanks Foster Mom!!!

30 minutes later

Bear: Foster mom can I come in?

Me: Sure (Opens door)

Bear: (walks in carrying his toy) See I told you!

Me: Yes you did! Can I have a Bear kiss?

Bear: Foster Mom, you got one this morning that should be enough!
